Welcome to the “Ber” months! Can you believe it’s already September? How is that even possible? I don’t know about you, but 2025 feels like it has flown by.
September means we’re gearing up for our big donation push. Thanks to everyone who contributed during the Create-A-Thon, we’ll be able to meet the many requests we’ve received. Our intake volunteers have been working double shifts to sort through the incredible volume of items you sent in—check out the photo on the right! Because of you, a child’s walk to school will be warmer with a scarf, hat, or pair of mittens. Because of you, children feel seen through the diverse Peace Pals you lovingly created. Every stitch matters—little moments that change the world.
A few quick housekeeping notes:
-Mail delivery update: The church where our offices are located recently changed the way we receive mail, which has delayed some financial gifts. If you’re concerned that your donation hasn’t reached us, let us know—I’ll be happy to check.
-Zoom events: We’ve noticed lots of folks register for workshops and Craft Circles, but not many are able to attend. Is there something we could do to make these events easier or more enjoyable for you? Your feedback means so much—we want these gatherings to truly serve our community. Send feedback to info@knitting4peace.org. -CAT door prize winners: Congratulations to Sandra C. (Kansas City), Linda T. (Pennsylvania), and Carol S. (Denver, CO)! Each of them gave during the Create-A-Thon and were randomly selected as our winners. Thank you and congrats! Stay cozy, and craft on, friends. With gratitude,
Kelly |

Community Member of the Month: ALL of our makers and Community Partners |
Each month, we love having the opportunity to highlight a member of this amazing Knitting4Peace Community. We are so very grateful to each of our individual makers, our Peace Pods, and every single Community Partner. However, we are abundantly aware that with each member we highlight, there are so many more makers and community partners quietly working in the background who we would also like to tell you about. There are so many fascinating stories to share!
Each of you is an essential part of our K4P Community and in an ideal world, we would dedicate an article to every one of you. For it is all of us coming together with a powerful vision of a future filled with peace that makes this community unique and so very special. Each item our makers donate, and each item our Community Partners share with those in need, is brimming with abundant love, joy, and high hopes for a better future. Although every individual and organization have their own unique reasons for working with Knitting4Peace, we truly are better together. Whether you have contributed or shared one item, or thousands, please know how much we honor and appreciate you!
Thank you all for being our very special Community Members of the Month! |

Consistency is Key: Hats!
Hats of all sizes are one of our most requested items! Because of your generosity, we are often able to fully meet the requests we receive for them. To ensure that the hats you send will quickly find a home, please note the following guidelines: -
All hats must be washable, and a MINIMUM of 13” or larger.
- Infant hats should be 13” to 18”. We welcome both lightweight hats using soft yarns, and warm hats for babies.
-
Toddler hats are typically 18”-19” circumference. For children ages 3-10, the circumference should be 19” to 20”. Warm hats in bright colors are preferred.
-
It’s especially important that teen and adult hats are WARM. They should be 21” to 23” circumference. Please don’t send in hats larger than 23” in circumference as we rarely receive requests for extra large hats.
-
Although there is some variation in sizing charts, here is a detailed chart that you might find useful: https://blog.lionbrand.com/hat-size-guide/
-
Please do NOT send premie hats or infant hats smaller than 13” in circumference. We do not receive requests for small hats and just have nowhere to send them.
We can never have too many hats so please keep sending them in! Our partner organizations frequently tell us how much a warm hat means to those who receive them. |

Peace Pals with Hijabs and Cold Weather Items |

Item Requests: Peace Pals with Hijabs, Cold Weather Items
Children love being able to “see” themselves in the Peace Pals they receive. This is one reason why it’s important that we are able to share Pals in various skin tones and those with unique features, like glasses. Organizations are thrilled to learn that we also have Peace Pals who wear hijabs, like many of their children. Unfortunately, as we enter our peak season for distribution in schools, we only have 48 Pals who are wearing hijabs and we’ve had requests for many more. Please consider checking out the patterns for making a Peace Pal with a hijab!
We anticipate that the need for warm hats and mittens will be strong this winter. These are two of our most requested items and we can definitely use more of them in both adult and child sizes. We currently have plenty of scarves, thanks to the many makers who responded quickly to our previous requests for those. |

Please note: Our donation intake is run solely by volunteers. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to immediately acknowledge each package as it arrives. Remember, you can always track your package with your carrier.
Remember, mailing costs qualify as tax-deductible nonprofit donations. Keep your receipts! Due to a lack of storage, K4P cannot accept yarn donations unless they are new and still in the original wrapper.
