Friend of Knitting4Peace,
Thank you for standing with us throughout 2025. Because of you, Knitting4Peace has continued to spread love, comfort, and warmth—both here in Colorado and around the world. This year, thousands of handmade items were delivered into the hands of children, families, and communities who needed them most. And yet, our work is far from over. Too many people still face winter without a hat, a scarf, or even a small token of comfort to remind them that they are not forgotten. At Knitting4Peace, we believe every person deserves dignity, warmth, and care, and together, we can make that vision a reality. As a small nonprofit powered by part-time staff and incredible volunteers, every gift you give makes a huge impact. With your financial support, we can expand our programs, answer more requests for help, and ensure that no request goes unanswered. This Giving Season, we invite you to continue building peace and comfort with us. Your generosity allows us to be present where we are needed most—and in 2026, that need will be greater than ever.
With deep gratitude, Kelly Wulf, Executive Director |

Community Member of the Month: Marsha L. |
Community Member of the Month: Marsha L., Knitting4Peace Board Chair and volunteer from Branson, Missouri
We have a new Knitting4Peace Board Chair and would like you to meet her! Marsha L. began crocheting when she was young and well remembers when her grandmother took her to a store to buy yarn, then taught her to make her very first Granny Square. She soon learned how much a handmade item meant to others and began to share her makes with others. Marsha later learned to knit and began to make “Knitting Into the Mystery” prayer shawls, using a 3-stitch pattern and a special prayer. She made sure to make shawls for all her friends and family.
Ten years ago, Marsha saw an article in a church bulletin about Knitting4Peace and quickly joined Missouri Peace Pod #1. The group met together weekly until they, like so many other Peace Pods, were derailed by the Pandemic. They are now meeting again but are struggling a bit to get their rhythm back. Still, they continue to make regular donations of hats, scarves, shawls, and mittens to Knitting4Peace. Their church is resettling refugees who are particularly grateful for the items the Peace Pod donates directly.
Marsha shared that many of the refugees come from tropical areas and the donated mittens have made them laugh! The Missouri Peace Pod #1 are a diverse group, who welcome all levels of knitters, some who are just learning and others who knit on national championship level. They share yarn and conversation while encouraging each other to try new patterns. They enjoy teaching others how to knit and crochet, and have welcomed a young man who recently joined who makes “emotional support chickens”!
Marsha joined the K4P Board two years ago after seeing a Facebook post about the need for new Board members. She had previously run a non-profit organization and was well-aware of how important great boards are to the success of organizations. As a Board member, Marsha has enjoyed working with other Board members, taking minutes and writing thank you notes to those who donate. |
|
She has now taken on the additional responsibility of becoming the Board Chairwoman. Although new to this role, Marsha is excited about learning all she can and contributing even more to the success of Knitting4Peace. She has a special interest in ensuring consistency and coherency in documentation.
Marsha plans to continue making items for K4P, especially her favorite hats. She uses a familiar pattern and finds she can even make them during meetings when she needs to pay attention. Reflecting on her many years with Knitting4Peaces, Marsha says “it is such a lovely sisterhood with others willing to share their talents”. She encourages others to “Be a cheerleader for everybody!” We wish Marsha well in her new role and thank her for her years of service to Knitting4Peace! |

If you haven’t checked out the K4P website lately, we encourage you to take a few moments to review the K4P Guidelines for requested items. Knitters, crocheters, and quilters are amazingly creative and often like to make a variety of items. However, we have a limited selection of items we are able to accept for distribution to groups and organizations. These are detailed on the website.
Our Knitting4Peace Community Partners typically are small non-profits or schools who are running on shoestring budgets. They often rely on a small staff and/or volunteers to distribute all the beautifully made items they receive from Knitting4Peace and typically have very limited storage space. It makes it easier for our Community Partners when K4P responds to their requests for specific items in standard sizes (hats, scarves, mittens, blankets, baby booties, Peace Pals, finger puppets) so they then can distribute them quickly to those who are most in need.
It can be challenging for our Community Partners to sort, store, and distribute unusual items, like toys, bags, sweaters, fashion scarves, no matter how wonderful those items might be. Because of this, please check in with us before sending in items that are not listed on our K4P website. |

Finger Puppets and Baby Blankets |
| |
|
We’ve been seeing amazing assortments of finger puppets come in and we truly love each and every one! Finger puppets are similar to Peace Pals as organizations who are requesting them typically ask for large numbers. We rarely have a surplus of the coveted finger puppets representing people and animals so please keep them coming in!
We continue to receive many, many requests for baby blankets, in both small and large sizes. The smaller size should be a minimum of 26” on each side, and up to 30”. The larger sizes are anything between 30” to 36” on each side, though we also will accept baby blankets up to 48”. The blankets go to many diverse organizations, who are so grateful when they receive baby blankets for little ones and their families!
