Happy New Year, friends of Knitting4Peace!
As we step into 2026, I’m filled with gratitude and excitement. This year marks a very special milestone for Knitting4Peace—our 20th anniversary! For two decades, this community has shown what’s possible when compassion, creativity, and commitment come together.
We’re looking forward to celebrating all year long, and you can expect special events, opportunities to connect, and meaningful moments that honor our shared history and the impact you’ve helped make possible. More details will be coming soon, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you. Before we dive into this anniversary year, I want to offer my heartfelt thanks for your support throughout 2025. Whether you gave your time, your resources, your creativity, or your encouragement, you played a vital role in advancing our mission—and I am deeply grateful.
Here’s to a joyful new year and to celebrating 20 years of Knitting4Peace together. With gratitude, Kelly Wulf

Community Member of the Month:
Love for Lily, Boulder, CO |
We are thrilled to be able to introduce you to our newest Knitting4Peace Community Partner, a non-profit from Boulder, CO called Love for Lily. This special organization began in 2012 to support families with infants in Neonatal ICUs.
Their programming aims to teach coping skills, build community, and develop teams of support to ease the stresses families so often experience when they have a child receiving NICU care. Love for Lily has built a strong network of Parent Facilitators who coach families and provide support as they navigate the world of intensive care for their newborns. “Essentials Bags” are stuffed with items that can provide a little comfort and ease burdens, particularly for families who unexpectedly find themselves spending long hours in the hospital. Grants are available to families who spend four or more weeks in the NICU so that they may obtain therapies that support the well-being of their child(ren). Holiday events are often planned and a special joy is being able to provide “graduation gifts” to families whose children successfully leave the NICU. Last year, the staff and volunteers at Love for Lily served over 2400 infants and families.
Kristin Jeong, Love for Lily’s Volunteer and Crafts Coordinator, shared that the organization is beginning a new program called “Loops of Love.” This will provide an opportunity for interested knitters and crocheters to contribute in a variety of ways. They plan to meet monthly in Louisville to make preemie hats and blankets, while also providing support and companionship to each other. Please contact kristin@loveforlily.org for more information on this group’s activities.
We are so happy to partner with the passionate, committed staff at Love for Lily.
We thank them for all they do for families and for being our January K4P Community Member of the Month! |

A note on preemie items:
As many of you are aware, a few years ago Knitting4Peace sadly stopped accepting preemie-sized items as we no longer had any partner organizations who were able to take them. However, sometimes we would receive preemie items and always did our best to find homes for them. Imagine how excited we were to learn that Love for Lily is now accepting preemie-sized items to support the families they work with in Colorado and other states! Those of you who especially enjoy making items for preemies can send your items directly to Love for Lily at PO Box 18957, Boulder, CO 80308. However, if you are sending in regular items to Knitting4Peace, feel free to include a few preemie items and we will see that they are passed along to Love for Lily.

Finger Puppets & Peace Pals |
| |
|
Finger puppets continue to be a very popular item as programs for young children find them to be beneficial in supporting language development. We love seeing how creative you are in making these special people and animals. Please make sure that all finger puppets fit securely on an adult or older child’s index finger and have no small decorations that might become a choking hazard for an infant.
Peace Pals: Children love being able to “see” themselves in the Peace Pals they receive. This is why it’s important that we are able to share Pals in various skin tones and those with unique features, like glasses. We are most in need of medium and darker skin tones. Organizations are thrilled to learn that we also have Peace Pals who wear hijabs, like many of their children. If you haven’t tried it yet, please consider checking out the patterns for making a Peace Pal with a hijab! Thanks to those of you who have already done so!

Consistency Matters: Hats Hats of many sizes are one of our most requested items! Because of your generosity, we are often able to fully meet the requests we receive for them. To ensure that the hats you send will quickly find a home, please note the following guidelines: -All hats must be washable, and a MINIMUM of 13” or larger.
-Infant hats should be 13” to 18”. We welcome both lightweight hats using soft yarns, and warm hats for babies.
-Toddler hats are typically 18”-19” circumference. For children ages 3-10, the circumference should be 19” to 20”. -Warm hats in bright colors are preferred. -It’s especially important that teen and adult hats are WARM. They should be 21” to 23” circumference. -Please do NOT send in hats larger than 23” in circumference as we rarely receive requests for extra large hats.
-Although there is some variation in sizing charts, here is a detailed chart that you might find useful: https://blog.lionbrand.com/hat-size-guide/ We can never have too many hats so please keep sending them in! Our partner organizations frequently tell us how much a warm hat means to their clients who receive them. |
