Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland supports families whose children receive treatment at area medical centers by providing a home-like environment and essential resources and services. Their Executive Director, Craig Wilson, believes that “Families are stronger when they are together, and their presence helps a sick child heal faster and cope better. While we cannot make medicine taste better or take away painful treatments, we can help lessen the burden and ensure families have the stability and resources to get and keep their child healthy and happy. The House offers a place to call home at little or no cost so... Read More
On February 11, 2010, Yolanda was traveling from El Salvador to Guatemala with her husband, two daughters, and a granddaughter. They were about 2 1/2 hours beyond the Guatemala border when they were assaulted and kidnapped. Their attackers took them to a deserted place where they were tied to trees, roughly searched, and threatened. The robbers stole all of their documents, money and personal items. Yolanda’s husband was hit on the head several times with a gun. Fortunately, the attackers decided not to kill them but instead left them stranded in the deserted location. A letter of appreciation for the creation of 599 Peace Pals June 22, 2010 Dear Peace Pal Knitters, I want to thank each of you for your efforts in helping to create the 599 Peace Pals that were delivered to children in Haiti during the medical mission trip I participated on from May 11-20. I am pleased to report that all the dolls made it safely to Haiti packed (make that smashed) into vacuum bags so that they were manageable. The Peace Pals traveled there in the 22 suitcases that also included medical supplies we took so that we could... Read More
A letter of appreciation from Charlotte Clive Hi Ms. McKee, I have been going to Honduras on medical mission trips for 12 years. I think you will see from the pictures that the wonder on the children's faces tells the story. Most children we see have very little, and toys are considered a luxury... clean water, healthy foods, and clothing are what are wished for...not dolls. So... Read More
March 29, 2012 Tonight we prayed over the 'babies' as they prepare to go to Honduras with the Honduras Hope Mission on April 16th. The trip has been reduced from a larger group to just four people due to the recent violence down there. Even the Peace Corp. left! My friend Sheri is going and she is excited because, since she isn't taking all the medical supplies that she usually takes, she has room in her suitcase for the Peace Pals. We read the Prayer of Blessing tonight and sent the little guys and gals off... Read More
